FIRST THINGS FIRST

Before you apply peel and stick wallpaper, examine the panels to assure that the pattern, color, quantity, and quality are as ordered. Follow the instructions packaged with the roll.

GET YOUR SURFACE READY

  • The surfaces must be clean, smooth, dry and structurally sound. For example, loose paint or other wall coverings must be removed;
  • In order to ensure maximum smoothness of installation, nail heads, nicks, gouges and other surface imperfections should be filled, sanded smooth and sealed;
  • If your wall has been recently painted, allow at least 4+ weeks for the paint to dry before applying peel and stick wallpaper;
  • Wallpaper primer is recommended for the best results and easier removal. In addition, cotton gloves should be used when installing the wallpaper. This way, you will avoid leaving fingerprints on the design.
  • If you feel the peel and stick wallpaper has an unusual odor, open the tube and leave it to air dry for a couple of days, to allow the smell to evaporate.
  • We recommend removing wallpaper slowly, at a 180 degree angle to minimize the tension against the surface.

HERE WE GO!

  • Firstly, push back about 10 inches (25 cm) of backing paper from the top of the panel. Secondly, stick the wallpaper to the top section of the wall and double check if it is straight.
  • Once the top of the strip is in position, gently peel the paper backing down 5-10 inches at a time and smooth the peel and stick wallpaper onto the wall, moving from the center outwards. Don’t unroll the full length of the roll yet – you’ll want to support the roll and unpeel it slowly as you go. If necessary, use a squeegee to move large air bubbles to the edge of the design, being careful not to scratch your design.
  • Be careful not to pull or stretch the self adhesive wallpaper or the pattern will not align.
  • Take the next panel and remove the same 10 inches of the backing paper from the top of the panel. The peel and stick wallpaper is designed to line up side by side. Have someone to step back and check that the seams line up nicely and pattern matches perfectly.
  • Repeat the “how to apply peel and stick wallpaper” installation steps until the wall is completed.
  • Smooth out every peel and stick wallpaper panel and all the seams one more time. Trim off excess material at ceiling and baseboard with a straight edge and sharp razor knife. If necessary, use the craft knife to trim around sockets of fixtures.
  • Take a picture of your good-looking wall (we want to see it!) and celebrate with a cocktail.
